1872-1951
Tümgeneral Mehmet Nazif KAYACIK 1872 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1890 yılında teğmen rütbesiyle mezun oldu. 28 Ocak 1893’te üsteğmenliğe, 25 Ekim 1894’te yüzbaşılığa, 15 Mart 1899’da kıdemli yüzbaşılığa, 20 Kasım 1905’te binbaşılığa, 27 Nisan 1910’da yarbaylığa terfi etti. 1897 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 1897 Osmanlı-Yunan Savaşı ve Trablusgarp Savaşı’na katıldı. Balkan Savaşı’na yarbay rütbesiyle 3’üncü Kolordu Mürettep Alay komutanı olarak katıldı. Savaştan sonra 1’inci Kolordu 5’inci Alay komutanı oldu. Bu görevinde iken Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na girildi. 18 Temmuz 1915’te albaylığa terfi etti ve 5 Ağustos 1915’te 6’ncı Tümen Komutanlığına getirildi. 7 Eylül 1917’de 56’ncı Tümen komutanı, 5 Mart 1918’de Umum Depo Kıtaatı müfettişi oldu. 4 Kasım 1919’da Hesap Tetkiki Komisyonu üyesi, 3 Ocak 1920’de Tetkik ve Tasnif Komisyonu üyesi, 27 Ekim 1920’de Birinci Divanıharp üyesi olarak atandı. 31 Ağustos 1921’de İnebolu yoluyla Anadolu’ya geçerek Millî Mücadele’ye katıldı. Millî Mücadele’de 9 Ekim 1921’de 3’üncü Kafkas Tümen komutanı, 14 Şubat 1922’de Konya Divanıharbi başkanı, 8 Mayıs 1922’de Depo Kıtaatı müfettişi, 14 Ağustos 1922’de Divan-ı Temyiz-i Askerî üyesi olarak katıldı. 20 Ekim 1927’de 7’nci Tümen komutanı olarak atandı. 30 Ağustos 1928’de tümgeneralliğe terfi etti ve aynı tarihte piyade ve makineli tüfek müfettişi olarak tayin edildi. Bu görevinde iken 17 Eylül 1930’da emekli oldu. Osmanlı Devleti, Alman İmparatorluğu ve Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Tümgeneral Mehmet Nazif KAYACIK, 20 Mart 1951’de vefat etmiştir.
Major General Mehmet Nazif KAYACIK was born in İstanbul in 1872. He graduated from the Military Academy in 1890 with the rank of lieutenant. He was promoted to first lieutenant on January 28, 1893, to captain on October 25, 1894, to lieutenant commander on March 15, 1899, to major on November 20, 1905, and to lieutenant colonel on April 27, 1910. He served in various echelons in the army until 1897. He entered the 1897 Ottoman-Greek War and the Turco Italian War. He entered the Balkan War as the commander of the 3rd Corps Dispositional Regiment with the rank of lieutenant colonel. After the war, he became the commander of the 5th Regiment of the 1st Corps. While he was on this duty, the First World War was entered. He was promoted to colonel on July 18, 1915 and appointed as the Commander of the 6th Division on August 5, 1915. He became the commander of the 56th Division on September 7, 1917, and the inspector of the General Depot Troops on March 5, 1918. He was appointed as a member of the Accounts Inspection Commission on November 4, 1919, as a member of the Inspection and Classification Commission on January 3, 1920, and as a member of the First Court-Martial on October 27, 1920. On August 31, 1921, he went to Anatolia via İnebolu and participated in the War of Independence. He participated in the War of Independence as the 3rd Caucasian Division commander on October 9, 1921, as the president of the Konya Court-Martial on February 14, 1922, as the Depot Troops inspector on May 8, 1922, and as a member of the Military Court of Appeal on August 14, 1922. He was appointed as a commander of the 7th Division on October 20, 1927. He was promoted to major general on August 30, 1928 and was appointed as infantry and machine gun inspector on the same date. While he was on this duty, he retired on September 17, 1930. Major General Mehmet Nazif KAYACIK, who was the owner of various decorations and medals given by the Ottoman Empire, the German Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Medal of Independence given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on March 20, 1951.
