MUSTAFA MUĞLALI
1882-1951
Orgeneral Mustafa MUĞLALI 1882 yılında Muğla’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1901 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1904 yılında mümtaz yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. 2 Kasım 1908’de kıdemli yüzbaşılığa terfi etti. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 25 Mayıs 1912’de 6’ncı Kolordu 16’ncı Tümen Kurmaylığına tayin edildi ve bu görevle Balkan Savaşı’na katıldı. Daha sonra Çanakkale Boğazı Kurmaylığına, 8 Ocak 1914’te Harbiye Nezareti Personel Başkanlığı Piyade Kısmına atandı. 1 Mart 1914’te binbaşı oldu. (Kurmaylığı 12 Nisan 1915’te onaylandı.) 3 Ağustos 1914’te Başkomutanlık Genel Menzil Müfettişliği Kurmaylığına atandı. Bu görevinde iken Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na girildi. 14 Eylül 1915’te kurmay yarbaylığa terfi etti ve müteakiben 28 Eylül 1915’te Adana Bölge Komutanlığı kurmay başkanlığına getirildi. 12 Ağustos 1917’de 12’nci Kolordu kurmay başkanı, 3 Mayıs 1918’de 44’üncü Tümen komutanı, 8 Ocak 1919’da Personel İşleri Dairesi başkan yardımcısı, 11 Kasım 1919’da Askerî Temyiz Mahkemesi üyesi olarak atandı. 20 Eylül 1921’de Anadolu’daki Millî Mücadele’ye katıldı ve İslâhiye’deki Ermeni İsyanı’nın bastırılmasında görevlendirildi. 5 Ocak 1922’de 18’inci Tümen komutanı olarak atandı. 18 Şubat 1922’de Doğu Cephesi Komutanlığı emrine atandı. 1 Mart 1922’de kurmay albay olan MUĞLALI, 28 Mart 1922’de Doğu Cephesi’nde 13’üncü Tümen komutanı, 3 Mayıs 1922’de 10’uncu Tümen komutanı, 23 Eylül 1923’te 8’inci Tümen komutanı, daha sonra Samsun bölge komutanı oldu. 15 Aralık 1924’te 11’inci Tümen Komutanlığına, 14 Şubat 1926’da 41’inci Tümen Komutanlığına getirildi. 30 Ağustos 1927’de tümgeneralliğe terfi etti. 20 Ekim 1927’de 3’üncü Ordu Müfettişliği kurmay başkanı, 27 Ağustos 1928’de Genelkurmay 2’nci başkan yardımcısı, 14 Aralık 1929’da 57’nci Tümen komutanı oldu. Bu görevde iken 23 Ekim 1930’da Menemen’de meydana gelen ve Asteğmen Kubilay’ın şehit edilmesi üzerine kurulan askerî mahkemenin başkanlığını yaptı. 26 Şubat 1931’de 1’inci Kolordu komutan vekilliğine getirilen MUĞLALI, 30 Ağustos 1931’de korgeneralliğe yükseldi. 17 Eylül 1931’de 1’inci Kolordu komutanı, 28 Ağustos 1939’da İstanbul komutanı, 14 Mart 1940’ta 10’uncu Kolordu komutanı olarak atandı. 29 Ağustos 1942’de Yüksek Askerî Şûra üyeliğine getirildi ve bir gün sonra, 30 Ağustos 1942’de orgeneralliğe yükseldi. 15 Şubat 1943’te 3’üncü Ordu komutanı, 29 Ağustos 1945’te tekrar Askerî Şûra üyesi olarak görev yaptı. 14 Temmuz 1947’de emekli oldu. Osmanlı Devleti ve Alman İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası ve takdirname sahibi olan Orgeneral Mustafa MUĞLALI, 11 Aralık 1951’de vefat etmiştir.
General Mustafa MUĞLALI was born in Muğla in 1882. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1901 and from the Military Academy in 1904 as a distinguished captain. On November 2, 1908, he was promoted to senior captain. He served at various levels of the army until 1911. On May 25, 1912, he was appointed to the 6th Army Corps, 16th Division Staff, where he participated in the Balkan War. Later, he was assigned to the Çanakkale Strait Staff Office, and on January 8, 1914, he was assigned to the Infantry Section of the Ministry of War Personnel. On March 1, 1914, he became a major. (His staff was confirmed on April 12, 1915.) On August 3, 1914, he was appointed Staff of the Commander-in-Chief, General Range Inspectorate. While in this position, the First World War broke out. On September 14, 1915, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, and subsequently, on September 28, 1915, he was appointed chief of staff of the Adana Regional Command. He was appointed chief of staff to the 12th Army Corps on August 12, 1917; commander of the 44th Division on May 3, 1918; deputy chief of the Department of Personnel Affairs on January 8, 1919; and a member of the Court of Military Appeals on November 11, 1919. On September 20, 1921, he participated in the Turkish War of National Sovereignty in Anatolia and was assigned to the suppression of the Armenian Revolt in İslâhiye. On January 5, 1922, he was appointed commander of the 18th Division. On February 18, 1922, he was appointed to the command of the Eastern Front. MUĞLALI, becoming a staff colonel on March 1, 1922, was appointed commander of the 13th Division on the Eastern Front on March 28, 1922, the commander of the 10th Division on May 3, 1922, the commander of the 8th Division on September 23, 1923, and then the Samsun regional commander. On December 15, 1924, he was appointed Commander of the 11th Division, and on February 14, 1926, he was appointed Commander of the 41st Division. On August 30, 1927, he was promoted to major general. On October 20, 1927, he became chief of staff of the 3rd Army Inspectorate; on August 27, 1928, 2nd Deputy Chief of the General Staff; and on December 14, 1929, commander of the 57th Division. While in this position, he presided over the military tribunal established after the martyrdom of Junior Lieutenant Kublai in Menemen on October 23, 1930. On February 26, 1931, he was appointed as the deputy commander of the 1st Corps, and on August 30, 1931, he was promoted to lieutenant general. He was appointed commander of the 1st Army Corps on September 17, 1931; commander of Istanbul on August 28, 1939; and commander of the 10th Army Corps on March 14, 1940. On August 29, 1942, he was appointed a member of the Supreme Military Council, and a day later, on August 30, 1942, he was promoted to the rank of general. He served as commander of the 3rd Army on February 15, 1943, and as a member of the Military Council again on August 29, 1945. He retired on July 14, 1947. General Mustafa MUĞLALI, who was conferred various orders and medals by the Ottoman State, the German Empire, and the Independence Medal and commendation given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, passed away on December 11, 1951, in İstanbul.
