MEHMET SUPHİ KULA
1881-1948
Tümgeneral Mehmet Suphi KULA 1881 yılında Manastır’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1901 yılında teğmen rütbesiyle mezun oldu. 12 Nisan 1909’da üsteğmenliğe, 26 Nisan 1911’de yüzbaşılığa terfi etti. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 23 Aralık 1911’de Selânik Subay Talimgâhı Komutanlığı süvari yardımcılığına, 22 Temmuz 1913’te 5’inci Kolordu 6’ncı Süvari Alayı 4’üncü Bölük Komutanlığına atandı ve bu görevleriyle Balkan Savaşlarına katıldı. 11 Nisan 1914’te 3’üncü Ordu 9’uncu Kolordu Karargâhı Süvari Bölük Komutanlığına atandı. Bu görevindeyken Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na girildi. 7 Haziran 1916’da kıdemli yüzbaşı, 14 Aralık 1916’da binbaşı olan KULA, 1 Kasım 1917’de 7’nci Ordu 2’nci Şube mülhakı,
11 Nisan 1918’de İstanbul Merkez Komutanlığı Tahkik Heyeti başkanı olarak atandı. Millî Mücadele’ye katılmak üzere 4 Mart 1920’de Anadolu’ya geçti. 31 Temmuz 1920’de Eskişehir Süvari Birlikleri Komutanlığında görevlendirildi. 10 Ocak 1921’de yarbaylığa terfi etti ve aynı tarihte 14’üncü Süvari Alay Komutanlığına atandı.
24 Ocak 1921’de 1’inci Süvari Tugay komutanı (Bu Tugay daha sonra 4’üncü Süvari Tümeni olmuştur.), 27 Şubat 1921’de Merkez Ordusu emrindeki 6’ncı Süvari Tümen komutanı oldu. 31 Ağustos 1922’de albay oldu. 17 Şubat 1927’de 7’nci Kolordu 1’inci Süvari Tümen Komutanlığına atandı. 30 Ağustos 1927’de tümgeneral olan KULA aynı tarihte 14’üncü Süvari Tümeni komutanı oldu. Bu görevinde iken 22 Mart 1931’de emekliye ayrıldı. 14 Kasım 1940’ta yedekten silahaltına alındı ve Konya Askerî Mıntıka Komutanlığına atandı. 21 Mart 1942’de yeniden emekli edildi. Osmanlı Devleti tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Tümgeneral Mehmet Suphi KULA, 19 Ekim 1948’de vefat etmiştir.
Major General Mehmet Suphi KULA was born in Manastır (Bitola) in 1881. He graduated from the Military Academy in 1901 with the rank of lieutenant. He was promoted to first lieutenant on April 12, 1909, and to captain on April 26, 1911. He served in various echelons in the army until 1911. On December 23, 1911, he was appointed as the deputy cavalry of the Salonika Officer Training Center Command, and on July 22, 1913, he was appointed to the 4th Company Command of the 6th Cavalry Regiment of the 5th Corps, and participated in the Balkan Wars with these duties. On April 11, 1914, he was appointed to the Cavalry Company Command of the 9th Corps Headquarters of the 3rd Army. While he was on this duty, the First World War was entered. KULA, who became a lieutenant commander on June 7, 1916 and a major on December 14, 1916, was appointed as the deputy army officer of the 2nd Branch of the 7th Army on November 1, 1917, and as the head of the İstanbul Central Command Investigation Committee on April 11, 1918. He went to Anatolia on March 4, 1920 to participate in the War of Independence. He was assigned to the Eskişehir Cavalry Units Command on July 31, 1920. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on January 10, 1921 and was appointed to the 14th Cavalry Regiment Command on the same date. On January 24, 1921, he became the commander of the 1st Cavalry Brigade (This Brigade later became the 4th Cavalry Division), and on February 27, 1921, he became the commander of the 6th Cavalry Division under the command of the Central Army. He became a colonel on August 31, 1922. On February 17, 1927, he was appointed to the 1st Cavalry Division Command of the 7th Corps. KULA, who became a major general on August 30, 1927, became the commander of the 14th Cavalry Division on the same date. While he was on this duty, he retired on March 22, 1931. On November 14, 1940, he was drafted from the reserve and appointed to the Konya Military Zone Command. He was retired again on March 21, 1942. Major General Mehmet Suphi KULA, who was the owner of various decorations and medals given by the Ottoman Empire and the Medal of Independence given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on October 19, 1948.
