MEHMET NAZIM YÜCEL
1886-1921
Kurmay Albay Mehmet Nazım YÜCEL 1886 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1907 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1910 yılında kurmay yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 13 Şubat 1911’de Yemen Kuvayıumumiyesi Kurmaylığı Mülhak Subaylığına atandı. Trablusgarp ve Balkan Savaşlarına katıldı. 8 Ocak 1914’te 7’nci Yemen Kolordusu Kurmaylığına, 12 Şubat 1914’te Genelkurmay Başkanlığı 3’üncü Şubeye, 1 Ağustos 1914’te 6’ncı Kolordu Kurmaylığına atandı. 29 Kasım 1914’te kurmay kıdemli yüzbaşı oldu ve aynı ay içinde 16’ncı Tümen Kurmaylığına atandı. Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na bu görevde katıldı. 15 Temmuz 1916’da 19’uncu Tümen Kurmaylığında görevlendirildi. 14 Eylül 1916’da kurmay binbaşılığa yükselen YÜCEL, 30 Kasım 1916’da Makedonya Cephesi’nde 177’nci Alay Komutanlığına, 18 Temmuz 1917’de Alman Asya Kolu Kurmaylığına, 25 Eylül 1917’de Romanya Cephesi’nde Mareşal Mackenzen Karargâhına, 25 Ağustos 1918’de Kafkas İslam Ordusu emrine atandı; daha sonra Personel Dairesi emrinde, 27 Ocak 1919’da 12’nci Kolordu emrinde görevlendirildi. 27 Mart 1919’da geçici olarak 7’nci Süvari Alay komutan vekili oldu. Daha sonra Mürettep Tümen Komutanlığına getirildi. 9 Ocak 1921’de kurmay yarbaylığa terfi etti ve müteakiben 10 Ocak 1921’de 4’üncü Piyade Tümeni komutanı olarak tayin edildi. Osmanlı Devleti, Alman İmparatorluğu, Saksonya Hükûmeti ve Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyaları bulunan Kurmay Albay Mehmet Nazım YÜCEL, Kütahya-Eskişehir Muharebeleri sırasında 15 Temmuz 1921’de Yumruçal’da şehit olmuştur.
Staff Colonel Mehmet Nazım YÜCEL was born in İstanbul in 1886. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1907, and from the War College, where he attended, as a staff captain in 1910. He served in various echelons in the army until 1911. On February 13, 1911, he was appointed as the Deputy Army Officer of the General Forces (Kuvayıumumiye) Staff of Yemen. He participated in the Turco Italian War and Balkan Wars. He was appointed as the Staff Officer of the 7th Yemen Corps on January 8, 1914, to the 3rd Branch of the General Staff on February 12, 1914, and as the Staff Officer of the 6th Corps on August 1, 1914. He became staff lieutenant commander on November 29, 1914 and was appointed as the Staff Officer of the 16th Division in the same month. He participated in the First World War on this duty. He was assigned to the 19th Division Staff on July 15, 1916. YÜCEL, who was promoted to staff major on September 14, 1916, was appointed as the Commander of the 177th Regiment on the Macedonian Front on November 30, 1916, as the Staff Officer of the German Asian Branch on July 18, 1917, to Marshall Mackenzen Headquarters on the Romanian Front on September 25, 1917, under the command of the Caucasus Islamic Army on August 25, 1918; he was later assigned under the command of the Personnel Department, of the 12th Corps on January 27, 1919. He temporarily became acting commander of the 7th Cavalry Regiment on March 27, 1919. He was later appointed as Dispositional Division Commander. He was promoted to staff lieutenant colonel on January 9, 1921, and was subsequently appointed as the commander of the 4th Infantry Division on January 10, 1921. Staff Colonel Mehmet Nazım YÜCEL, who had various decorations and medals given by the Ottoman Empire, the German Empire, the Government of Saxony and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, died a martyr in Yumruçal on July 15, 1921, during the Kütahya-Eskişehir Battles.
