Kurmay Albay Mehmet Hulusi CONK 1881 yılında İzmir’de doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1902 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1905 yılında mümtaz yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. (Kurmaylığı 28 Mart 1911’de onaylandı.) 1912 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 11 Ağustos 1912’de Gümülcine Redif Tümeni kurmay başkanı olarak atandı. Balkan Savaşı’na bu görevle katıldı ve savaş sırasında Bulgarlara esir düştü. Barıştan sonra esaretten döndü. 9 Aralık 1913’te kurmay binbaşılığa terfi etti ve aynı tarihte Bağımsız 22’nci Hicaz Tümeni Kurmay Başkanlığına atandı. 4 Mart 1914’te 20’nci Tümen kurmay başkanı, 28 Temmuz 1914’te 3’üncü Kolordu 9’uncu Tümen kurmay başkanı olarak tayin oldu. Bu görevindeyken Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na girildi. 11 Ocak 1916’da 16’ncı Kolordu kurmay başkanı, 17 Ocak 1917’de 19’uncu Kolordu kurmay başkanı, 16 Ağustos 1917’de 14’üncü Kolordu kurmay başkanı, 29 Ocak 1917’de 176’ncı Alay komutanı olarak atandı. 28 Temmuz 1918’de kurmay yarbaylığa terfi etti. 30 Eylül 1918’de 60’ıncı Tümen komutanı, 31 Ekim 1918’de 61’inci Tümen komutanı olarak göreve başladı. 31 Mayıs 1919’da 20’nci Kolordu kurmay başkanı olarak Anadolu’ya geçti ve Millî Mücadele’ye katıldı. 12 Nisan 1920’de Millî Savunma Bakanlığı Harbiye Dairesi Başkanlığına, daha sonra 24’üncü Tümen Komutanlığına atandı. Bu görevle İkinci İnönü ve Kütahya-Eskişehir Muharebelerine katıldı. 21 Mart 1922’de 18’inci Tümen komutanı olarak atandı ve bu Tümenle Büyük Taarruz ve Takip Harekâtı’nda yer aldı. 31 Ağustos 1922’de kurmay albaylığa yükseldi. 3 Ocak 1923’te sağlık durumundan dolayı kendi isteğiyle emekliye ayrıldı. 22 Ocak 1941’de İkinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında tekrar hizmete alınarak Manisa Askerlik Dairesi başkanı olarak görevlendirildi. 21 Ağustos 1943’te tekrar emekli oldu. Osmanlı Devleti tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Kurmay Albay Mehmet Hulusi CONK, 10 Ocak 1950’de vefat etmiştir.
Staff Colonel Mehmet Hulusi CONK was born in İzmir in 1881. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1902, and from the War College, where he attended, as a distinguished captain in 1905. (His staff position was approved on March 28, 1911.) He served in various echelons of the army until 1912. On August 11, 1912, he was appointed as the chief of staff of the Komotini Redif (Military Reserve) Division. He participated in the Balkan War with this duty and was captured by the Bulgarians during the war. He returned from captivity after peace. He was promoted to staff major on December 9, 1913, and on the same date, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Independent 22nd Hejaz Division. He was appointed as the chief of staff of the 20th Division on March 4, 1914, as the chief of staff of the 9th Division of the 3rd Corps on July 28, 1914. While he was on this duty, the First World War was entered. He was appointed as the chief of staff of the 16th Corps on January 11, 1916, as the chief of staff of the 19th Corps on January 17, 1917, as the chief of staff of the 14th Corps on August 16, 1917, and the commander of the 176th Regiment on January 29, 1917. He was promoted to staff lieutenant colonel on July 28, 1918. He took office as the commander of the 60th Division on September 30, 1918, and as the commander of the 61st Division on October 31, 1918. On May 31, 1919, he went to Anatolia as the chief of staff of the 20th Corps and participated in the War of Independence. On April 12, 1920, he was appointed as the Head of the War Department of the Ministry of National Defence and later as the Commander of the 24th Division. With this duty, he participated in the Second İnönü and Kütahya-Eskişehir Battles. He was appointed as the commander of the 18th Division on March 21, 1922 and took part in the Great Offensive and the Pursuit Operation with this Division. He was promoted to staff colonel on August 31, 1922. He retired voluntarily on January 3, 1923 due to his health condition. On January 22, 1941, he was put into service again during the Second World War and was appointed as the head of the Manisa Recruitment Department. He retired again on August 21, 1943. Staff Colonel Mehmet Hulusi CONK, who was the owner of various decorations and medals given by the Ottoman Empire and the Medal of Independence given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on January 10, 1950.
