KÂZIM SEVÜKTEKİN
1877-1949
Tümgeneral Kâzım SEVÜKTEKİN 1877 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu.
Harp Okulundan 1895 yılında teğmen rütbesiyle mezun oldu. 22 Temmuz 1896’da üsteğmenliğe terfi etti. 1897 Osmanlı- Yunan Savaşı’nda 2’nci Ordu 12’nci Nizamiye Alayı 2’nci Tabur 2’nci Bölük komutanı olarak görevlendirildi. 8 Ocak 1898’de yüzbaşılığa, 15 Temmuz 1902’de kıdemli yüzbaşılığa, 18 Ekim 1906’da binbaşılığa terfi etti. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 21 Aralık 1911’de 1’inci Kolordu 3’üncü Nişancı Taburu Komutanlığına atandı ve Balkan Savaşı’na bu göreviyle katıldı. 12 Ocak 1914’te 5’inci Kolordu 41’inci Nizamiye Alayı komutan muavini, 14 Mart 1914’te 5’inci Kolordu Astsubay Numune Taburu komutanı oldu. Bu görevinde iken Birinci Dünya Savaşı başladı ve müteakiben 29 Kasım 1914’te binbaşı oldu. 1914 yılı sonunda 4’üncü Alay komutanı oldu ve bu Alayla Çanakkale Muharebelerine katıldı. 7 Temmuz 1916’da 13’üncü Tümen komutanı, 20 Eylül 1916’da 7’nci Tümen komutanı, 14 Ekim 1916’da 2’nci Ordu Menzil Müfettişi muavini, 16 Ocak 1917’de 11’inci Tümen komutanı oldu. 28 Temmuz 1918’de albay oldu ve 1 Aralık 1918’de 20’nci Kolordu Komutan Vekilliğine, 25 Haziran 1919’da Harbiye Dairesi Tedarik Komisyonuna, daha sonra Rüsumat Muhafaza Müdürlüğüne, 7 Kasım 1920’de Beyoğlu İnzibat Mıntıkası Komutanlığına atandı. Daha sonra Anadolu’ya geçerek Millî Mücadele’ye katıldı. Millî Mücadele’de Batı Cephesi Depo Kıtaat Müfettişliğine atandı. Daha sonra Sivrihisar ve Havalisi Komutanlığına, 14 Temmuz 1921’de 8’inci Tümen Komutanlığına getirildi. 31 Ağustos 1922’de tümgeneralliğe terfi etti. 23 Eylül 1923’te 5’inci Kafkas Tümeni komutanı, 18 Aralık 1924’te tekrar 8’inci Tümen komutanı oldu ve bu görevinde iken 27 Aralık 1927’de emekli oldu. Sivil yaşamında 1928-1943 yılları arasında III, IV, V, VI, VII. dönem Diyarbakır milletvekilli, 1946 yılında VIII. Dönem Mardin milletvekilli olarak görev yaptı. Osmanlı Devleti, Yunanistan ve Alman İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası ve takdirname sahibi olan Tümgeneral Kâzım SEVÜKTEKİN, 1 Nisan 1949’da vefat etmiştir.
Major General Kâzım SEVUKTEKIN was born in Istanbul in 1877. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1895. He was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant on July 22, 1896. He was assigned as the commander of the 2nd Company of 2nd Battalion of 12th Nizamiye (Regular) Regiment of the 2nd Army in Ottoman-Greek War in 1897. He was promoted to the rank of captain on January 8, 1898; lieutenant commander on July 15, 1902; major on October 18, 1906. He served in varied positions in the army until 1911. He was appointed as the Commander of the 3rd Marksman Battalion of the 1st Corps on December 21, 1911 and participated in Balkan War with this duty. He became second-in-command of the 41st Nizamiye (Regular) Regiment of the 5th Corps on January 12, 1914; the commander of the NCO Training Battalion of the 5th Corps on March 14, 1914. During his duty the First World War was started and later he became major on November 29, 1914. At the end of 1914, he became the commander of the 4th Regiment and participated in Dardanelles Wars with that Regiment. He became the commander of the 13th Division on July 7, 1916; the commander of the 7th Division on September 20, 1916; deputy Range Inspector of the 2nd Army on October 14, 1916; the commander of the 11th Division on January 16, 1917. He became colonel on July 28, 1918 and was appointed as the deputy commander of the 20th Corps on December 1, 1918, and appointed to Procurement Commission of War Office on June 25, 1919 and later to the Directorate of Customs Enforcement; to Beyoglu Military Police Zone Command on November 7, 1920. Later on, he went to Anatolia and participated in War of Independence. During the War of Independence, he was appointed to Western Front Depot Troops Inspectorate. Afterwards, he was assigned as the commander of Sivrihisar and Its Vicinity, and as the commander of the 8th Division on July 14, 1921. He was promoted to rank of major general on August 31, 1922. He became the commander of the 5th Caucasus Division on September 23, 1923; again the commander of the 8th Division on December 18, 1924 and retired from this duty on December 27, 1927. In his civilian life, he served as the deputy for Diyarbakir for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th terms between 1928 and 1943, as the deputy for Mardin for the 8th term in 1946. Major General Kâzım SEVUKTEKIN who had various decorations and medals decorated by the Ottoman Empire, Greece and German Empire as well as the Independence Medal and the letter of appreciation (takdirname) decorated by Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on April 1, 1949.
